The garage is back

By · Published · Updated

The one-person company with the leverage of a fifty-person team is the most underrated story of the decade.

Hewlett-Packard started in a garage. So did Apple, so the legend goes. Then software ate the world and starting a company required venture rounds, offices and a hiring plan.

AI is reopening the garage. One person with good taste, a cheap host, a payment link and a few AI tools can now research, design, code, write and support customers at a scale that took a team ten years ago. Not perfectly, and not without hard work. But the floor has dropped.

My bet, labeled as opinion: the defining entrepreneurs of this decade won't run the biggest companies. They'll run the smallest ones that matter.

This essay is opinion and speculation, not factual reporting or financial advice.
